The Therapy Process

Initial Assessment

The first sessions involve an assessment process, usually conducted within the first few sessions. During this time we will:

  • Explore your concerns and goals
  • Understand your current situation
  • Discuss what you hope to gain from therapy
  • Decide together whether psychotherapy is the right approach for you

Ongoing Therapy

Following the assessment phase, psychotherapy sessions typically consist of:

  • 50-minute sessions
  • Weekly/Fortnightly appointments (according to your needs)
  • A collaborative therapeutic relationship
  • Regular review of goals and progress

Consistency is important for therapy to be effective and requires a commitment of time, energy, and self-reflection. This is a process that takes time and varies according to your goal.

Closure of Therapy

There may be a time where you feel that you have reached your goals or want to focus on other aspects of your life. This is a healthy way of moving forward with your life. It is always suggested that there is a final session to close the process and reflect on the journey that we have experienced together.
